Sanjeev Gandhi

As the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Orica, Sanjeev Gandhi leads Orica’s global team of more than 13,000 colleagues as they support the responsible production of resources everyday which help lift standards of living and drive economic growth around the world.

Orica is the world’s largest provider of commercial explosives and innovative blasting systems to the mining, quarrying, oil and gas and construction industries. Orica is also a leading supplier of sodium cyanide for gold extraction, and a specialist provider of ground support services in mining and tunnelling.

Before joining Orica in July 2020, Sanjeev Gandhi spent 30 years in the chemical industry and 26 years with BASF SE, the worlds leading chemical company in various senior management positions in India, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Most recently, Sanjeev Gandhi was a Member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE and Head of Asia Pacific as well as Head of the Global Chemicals Segment (Intermediates & Petrochemicals) based out of Hong Kong. Leading a workforce of more than 18,500 people across 19 countries in Asia, 125 production sites and 140 sales offices, Sanjeev Gandhi was accountable for the delivery of €13.3 billion in revenue, and €1 billion in EBIT in 2019.
