Carbon credits are an important component of Australia’s emissions abatement activities, and essential to the carbon market. They range from energy efficiency measures to reforestation. Their outcomes are tightly regulated and hotly debated.

The Carbon Project Showcase Series is offering a range of excursion to look at projects on site, and learn about the opportunities, roadblocks and issues throughout project establishment, life-cycle and assessment.

Join carbon project developers and landholders on this site visit to an actual project and see for yourself how these projects are contributing to achieve Australia’s climate goals. Hear directly from carbon farmers and landholders the economic opportunities these projects can bring.

Depending on your location, availability and interests, please register your interest to attend this or future Project Showcases throughout Australia.

Itinerary

Day 1 – 18 March 2026

As part of its ActivAcre program, SFM established a cluster of nine new plantation projects in Tasmania’s Woodsdale region, with three initiated in 2024 and six added in 2025. Eight of these projects are already registered with the Clean Energy Regulator, and the ninth is on track for registration in 2026. Located within a 20-kilometre radius, the projects deliver significant operational and economic efficiencies, including streamlined contractor management, consistent wood supply, shared fire management resources, reduced road infrastructure costs, and broader benefit-sharing among local landholders and neighbouring properties.
