CMI is an independent, member-based institute with a mission to accelerate the use of market-based solutions and support best practice in decarbonisation. Since 2011, it has played an important role as an inclusive forum for business, but also as an advocate for policy that drives investment in emissions reduction and removal.

Membership & Sponsorship Policy

Following a comprehensive consultation process following the introduction of an interim membership policy in 2023, CMI launched its final Member & Sponsorship Policy in early 2024. The policy places additional requirements on carbon-intensive and large corporate members to have publicly available decarbonisation plans available by mid-2025.
