New member-only resources, COP28 and more

Dear Members,

An update on three important matters today:

  • Launch of new capacity-building resources
  • Member and Sponsorship Policy reminder
  • CMI COP28 Hub, Events & Priorities

1. Launch of new capacity-building resources

We are continuing to build out the Members Portal on our website with a series of new resources for carbon market literacy that are exclusive to CMI members.

The latest additions include the launch of Example Contract Clauses for third-party carbon farming contracts, including example contract clauses for both project developer and carbon service providers – as well as a helpful Guidance Note to walk you through the key concepts of the ACCU Scheme and how to engage with the example contract clauses.

We are also giving members exclusive access to another new education and training resource, CMI’s tailored online Banker Training module, aimed at strengthening the understanding among the banking and broader finance and farming community regarding carbon markets and projects. The module, developed with the assistance of ANZ, explores the key risks and opportunities involved and the role of bankers in providing carbon farming project consent and facilitating participation of their customers.

We are also developing further educational modules for greater carbon market literacy – stay tuned or get in touch if you are keen to support.

If you’re having trouble accessing the portal, please reach out to and we can assist.

2. Member and Sponsorship Policy reminder

Secondly, a reminder that we welcome your final feedback on the draft Member and Sponsorship Policy, shared late last month. The linked document includes the full policy in the Appendix section, as well as relevant background information and details on the process.

We request any feedback by 1 December 2023 to Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you require further information.

3. CMI COP28 Hub, Events & Priorities

Lastly, with the 28th UNFCCC COP just a few days away (November 30 to December 12), we have recently launched our COP28 Hub, which will be a go-to for key updates throughout the two weeks, whilst also providing details on CMI-hosted events and side-events to be attended by CMI’s delegation on-the-ground in Dubai.

Available on the Hub, CMI’s COP28 Priorities & Calls to Action paper focuses on the importance of the Global Stocktake as a global accelerator for course correction and Article 6 progress.

To provide a midway update during the two weeks, CMI and CBA is hosting a COP28 Symposium in Sydney on 8 December. Please join me at our final event for 2023, with high calibre expert insights (live from Dubai and in-person in Sydney) and also for end of year networking drinks. Further program information and registration available here.

Thank you for your ongoing support through what has been another intense but important year for carbon markets and climate investment.

Kind regards,

John Connor, CEO
