Following the success of our inaugural NAIDOC Week Carbon Conversation, CMI is proud to again present an Indigenous-led panel discussion to commemorate this event. This year’s theme for NAIDOC Week is “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,” an apt theme given the ACCU Scheme carbon credits for cultural burning and current revisions being made to the Savanna Burning methodology. We’ll explore how Indigenous groups are engaging with this methodology to return to Country, while also exploring opportunities for new methods that support caring for Country across Australia. Alongside these technical considerations, we’ll take a look more broadly at what constitutes “right way” engagement, and how we can best support Indigenous communities to move from being stakeholders, to shareholders.
