The Carbon Market Institute (CMI) is an independent business member-based institute with a 2050 vision of a prosperous, negative emissions, nature positive world. Our focus is to:

Working across a large range of climate policy and carbon market programs and projects, CMI contributes to market development, market integrity and research and analysis. Over 150 corporate members span the carbon market supply chain including emissions intensive industry, service and technology providers, financiers, carbon developers, transport and primary producers.
Role Overview
The Events Manager will report to the Director of Events and Membership and work closely with colleagues within the organisation to successfully deliver the Carbon Market Institute’s annual events calendar.
In this role, you will take a lead in planning, producing, and delivering exceptional events that align with our purpose and vision. Your creativity and confident ability to build relationships will be essential in connecting key stakeholders and curating impactful experiences that drive meaningful outcomes.

Core Responsibilities & Experience
- End-to-End Event Management: Plan and execute all assigned events.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to align events with the organisation’s strategic objectives. Coordinate program development with input from Executive. Assist with program development.
- Speaker Coordination & Attendee Management: Manage speakers and schedule briefings. Oversee event registrations and guest logistics, ensuring a positive attendee experience. Experience using CRM systems, particularly CVENT highly desirable.
- Budget Oversight: Manage event budgets effectively, ensuring financial targets are achieved.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate and manage relationships with event suppliers, venue, contractors, onsite staff, sponsors, speakers and other key stakeholders.
- Onsite Operations: Oversee onsite operations, including venue briefings, staff allocation, and speaker coordination.
- Performance Analysis: Measure event success using attendee feedback and data to provide insights for continuous improvement.
About You
- 3+ years of event management experience, specifically in corporate events and/ or NFP sectors being highly advantageous but not essential.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
- A passion for creating meaningful, purpose-driven events that inspire and deliver real impact.
- Willingness to travel (domestic and international) and work outside traditional hours as needed.
- A team player, comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team with demanding deadlines.
- Proven ability to foster strong relationships with sponsors, speakers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- A hands-on approach with excellent decision-making, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, event management tools, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, CVENT, ASANA), and virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom).
