Scientia Professor Deo Prasad is a world-leading sustainability researcher with a focus on the built environment. A former director of the UNSW Centre for a Sustainable Built Environment and founder of the university’s Masters in Built Environment, Professor Prasad was the driving force behind the formation of the Co-operative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living, of which he is currently the CEO.

Professor Prasad has held a range of board positions within the built environment sector, including membership with the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s the Solar Buildings Research Network and the United Nations Environment Program (GCSF), Energy Research and Development Corporation among many others. He has been the CEO of the CRC for Low Carbon Living (National Research and Innovation Hub for the Built Environment). He has brought in millions of dollars in competitive research funding, and has published more than 300 refereed articles and six books. He holds qualifications in architecture, engineering, science and program management and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
