COP29 EOIs due Friday + Upcoming Working Group Dates

Dear CMI Member,

Greetings from the Global Nature Positive Summit in Sydney where CMI and partners just held a panel discussion on ‘Driving Nature Positive Action Through Markets & Investment’.

FINAL REMINDER: Board nominations closing – COB tomorrow Wednesday 9 October

CMI is seeking EOI (nominations) from individuals interested in standing for the CMI Board. As Directors are expected to act in an independent personal capacity, it is not required that candidates be employed by CMI member organisations. Candidates must be able to personally comply with the legal obligations as a director and must not be currently disqualified by ASIC from acting as a company director.

To be considered, your EOI must include a current CV, and a cover letter that can address:

  • Eligibility as per criteria
  • Alignment with priority skills/experience areas (if any)
  • Reasons/interest in joining the CMI Board.

EOIs must be sent to Election Returning Officer via email at jobs@carbonmarketinstitute.org by COB Wednesday 9 October 2024.

CMI will be holding its Annual General Meeting on the 28 November 2024, and as required by the CMI Constitution there will be three Board positions vacated and/or available for election at that time.

More information on eligibility, skills and process is available from our website.

URGENT: Australian Climate Business Survey

We need another 50 respondents to close out our Australian Climate Business Survey for 2024 with a credible sample size.

Please give ten minutes and complete the survey anonymously here:

Australian Climate Business Survey

Apologies if you have already responded and promise this is the last survey request!  Remember it is for individuals engaged in the market, not seeking corporate positions.

This will help us to represent the sector in our activities like talking to government and media and give you insights into industry perceptions.

I would really appreciate your response!

COP29 Virtual Passes

As an accredited observer organisation under the UNFCCC, CMI has been allocated ten passes for virtual participation at COP29. We currently have five passes available for members interested in attending key sessions remotely. These passes will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis to CMI members. If you would like to secure one, please contact Mei Zi Tan.

International Carbon Markets Working Group

As we approach COP29 in Baku, CMI is convening its International Carbon Markets Working Group on 18 October 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM (AEDT), to discuss key themes that will shape this ‘Finance COP’. The meeting will cover critical topics, including the new global climate finance goal, Article 6, Australia’s COP31 bid, and Pacific priorities for COP29 and beyond. Please register here and contact Mei Zi Tan for further information.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind regards,

John Connor, CEO
