Kobad Bhavnagri Joins CMI Board

The Carbon Market Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Kobad Bhavnagri, Head of Australia, and Head of Asia Pacific Economics & Policy at Bloomberg New Energy Finance to the Institute’s Board.

“Mr Bhavnagri is one of Australia’s leading experts on the transformation of the energy sector, and we will greatly benefit from his deep energy market experience and expertise as we expand our influence across the Australian climate change and business sector”, says Grant.

Chief Executive, Peter Castellas has also welcomed the appointment of Mr Bhavnagri to the Institute. “I have had the great pleasure of getting to know Kobad over the years and value his insights and perspectives”, he says.

“The Carbon Market Institute increasingly plays a critical role in the development of climate change and business policy and markets in Australia, and Kobad’s inclusion on the board will enhance our capacity at a strategic level, as we lead our members through Australia’s transition to a zero-carbon economy”, says Castellas.

As the Head of Australia and Head of Asia-Pacific Economics & Policy at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, an independent research house specialising in the future of energy, Mr Bhavnagri leads a portfolio of new energy expertise focused on the Australian market, including the forecasting of how the power sector will evolve to 2040. He has authored over 100 publications spanning energy policy, economics, finance and technology since joining the company in 2010. Mr Bhavnagri has worked in the energy and finance industries since 2003 as an engineer, management consultant and analyst, and has a first-class honours degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of New South Wales.
