[MEDIA RELEASE] CMI is now certified Climate Active

bradkerin Media Release

Wednesday 2nd December: The Carbon Market Institute (CMI) is excited to announce that we are now certified Climate Active! CMI has joined a growing network of certified organisations and brands in the transition to a net-zero emissions economy, making choices and changes in the way we operate to further align our actions with our 2050 vision for a  prosperous, climate-resilient, net-zero emissions world.

We are proud to have invested in Australia’s high integrity carbon market, purchasing Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) from the Tiwi Islands Savanna Burning project (with thanks to the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation) to offset our unavoidable emissions. This project delivers several environmental, indigenous and social co-benefits, which was an important factor in our offset selection process.

Through Climate Active certification, CMI is committing to an additional 10% emissions offset to go beyond carbon neutral and be net-negative in its first certification year. In doing so, we are contributing to climate repair now and the requirement to achieve net-negative emissions globally by the second half of this century to help limit average global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
