We are pleased to welcome back CMI’s popular Carbon Conversations events on an auspicious day – Friday 19th February 2021 – the day the USA formally re-joins the UNFCCC Paris Agreement. Our distinguished panel includes two USA climate leaders, veteran strategic adviser on domestic and international climate policy and politics Alden Meyer and US and Australian energy investment specialist Cathy Zoi. Alden is Senior Associate, E3G – Third Generation Environmentalism and recently Director Strategy and Policy at Union of Concerned Scientists. Cathy is CEO of EVgo, the U.S.’s leading fast charging network for EVs, having previously advised Obama and Clinton administrations and former CEO of NSW Sustainable Energy Development Authority. Joining the panel will be CMI Chair Elisa de Wit, partner with global law firm Norton Rose, who heads the Australian climate change and sustainability practice.
Our panel will provide on-the-ground insight into President Joe Biden’s climate plans, including new 2030 and 2050 targets and ramifications for US business, energy, transport and international climate negotiations. Together we’ll review the implications for Australia, global carbon markets and the pathway to Glasgow’s COP26 at the end of the year.
